Half a century ago, the streets of China were filled with people wearing Mao suits, and bicycles were the main mode of transport. Brick buildings lined the streets, and food stalls sold youtiao and soy milk. Today, people wear the latest fashions, cars and electric motorcycles have replaced bicycles, and skyscrapers and expressways have replaced old buildings and roads. The old food stalls are now stylish cafes. Even for us, China's transformation seems profound.

These changes are driven by China's rapid economic expansion, which began with reforms in 1978, making it a global economic powerhouse. Western Japan Trading Co., Ltd. founded in 1961, has played a pivotal role in Japan-China trade. We've contributed to economic development and friendly relations between both countries by adapting to contemporary trends and conditions.

The functions and roles of trading companies are evolving amid changes in Japan-China business. We've restructured our local bases in China into 8 sales bases with experienced staff, enabling swift surveys, negotiations, and issue resolution. We have technical advisers for specialized assistance and in-house response to issues. In 2019, Ichiwa Technology (Changshu) Co., Ltd. was established in Changshu, Suzhou, for local installation and maintenance of labor-saving automation equipment and machines.

Looking ahead, we'll expand our sales into the growing ASEAN markets. In 2021, we celebrated our 60th anniversary. Each member of the Western Japan Trading Group will continue to engage sincerely with our trading partners, consistently striving to provide better service while never forgetting our founding philosophy: contributing to economic development in Japan and China through trade.
